Welcome to the housing reform debate

Caroline FlintCommunities and Local Government has announced plans to publish a housing reform green paper towards the end of the year. The Minister for Housing, Rt. Hon Caroline Flint MP, invited the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) to help lead the debate at our annual conference in Harrogate. To support meaningful reform it is important that a wide range of people take part and share their views. This forum is part of that debate.

The green paper will contain proposals on how we can make changes so that housing services and options help and encourage people towards greater economic independence and social mobility whilst delivering greater fairness and making best use of public funding.

It will build on ideas coming out of the Hills Review and the Cave Review of social housing regulation which were both published last year.
